Capturing Life’s Smiling Moments
Hello everyone, my name is Shelly!
I was born and raised on the beautiful Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, where I loved spending my time exploring the Fortress of Louisbourg, driving the Cabot Trail, and listening to the soothing waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
In 2005, I decided to broaden my horizons and moved to Niagara Falls, Ontario. My first job as a tour guide gave me the opportunity to experience Niagara’s incredible attractions — from the iconic Horseshoe Falls and peaceful Dufferin Islands to the stunning Botanical Gardens and Butterfly Conservatory.
That experience also introduced me to the region’s hidden gems — breathtaking natural spots that many visitors never get to see. But more than the scenery, what I loved most was meeting people, sharing stories, and putting a smile on their faces (something I’ve carried with me from my Cape Breton roots).How My Photography Journey Began
It was during this time that I discovered my love for photography. I began by capturing butterflies at the Butterfly Conservatory and flowers at the Botanical Gardens, then moved on to scenic art — like the tiny waterfalls hidden in Dufferin Islands and the intimate charm of Oakes Garden Theatre.
When I photographed my first wedding, I knew this was my calling. Since then, I’ve grown into photographing engagements, families, individual portraits, and especially child and infant photography — moments that are full of joy, love, and authenticity.My Philosophy
For me, photography is about capturing those perfect moments in life — moments that tell your story and bring a smile every time you look back at them.
